Newfoundland & Labrador’s Pedlar Press recently held a Salon in St. John’s where the topic of discussion was writing across literary genres. Three Pedlar authors discussed their practices, specifically in writing for the stage. Sara Tilley (author of the novels Skin Room and Duke) read from her play Red or White, which she has completed, but it has yet to be staged. Kim Fahner (author of the poetry collection These Wings) read from Letters to the Man in the Moon, which is a work in progress and was recently workshopped at Sudbury’s Play Smelter. Agnes Walsh (author of Oderin) discussed how she came to adapt Icelandic author Haldor Laxness’s novel The Atom Station, for the stage. It was performed at the LSPU Hall in the 1990s. Recorded for Voice of Bonne Bay Radio, Gros Morne.
